I guess you’re here because you want to know a bit about me? Well my name is Bryan Villegas and I am a full time student at West Virginia University studying strategic communications with an emphasis and advertising and a minor in sports communications. I am currently a junior and on pace to graduate on time. Above is a picture of me so you will be able to put a face to my name. My passions include cheering for any mountaineers’ sports team as well as spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy anything that has to do with sports and am very enthusiastic about doing sports pieces and/or filming or recording for a sports event. As you can see in my recent work tab I also can properly do photo and video editing as well as featured stories, news releases, radio scripts, print ads, broadcasts and visual storyboards.

One thing that has shaped me into the person that I am today is moving across the country from San Diego, California to Frederick, Maryland in middle school before I attended WVU. It’s not necessarily the move itself that shaped me into who I am, but the experiences and differences in each place that changes the way you think and react to certain situations, and often times how you reflect back on something before you finish a writing assignment or whatever it might be. If I were to never move from California to Maryland, the way I viewed things would be a lot different. There are a different variety of people, foods, culture, and landscape, which also means people have different needs to adjust to the place in which they live. For example, people in southern California aren’t going to need snow tires in November but they might need Sun block.

Knowing your target audience and demographics is a major part in advertising and communications, and knowing who you are trying to sell your product to is the whole purpose of creating the product. I believe that if you can relate to and in a way know your target audience and the neighborhoods where they are from and things that they are exposed to on an everyday basis, then when making an ad or writing to a group of people in news release or a PSA you will have more success connecting to them. Even though I might not have wanted to move from California at first I am glad that I did, not because of the people I have met and friends I have made, but also living in two completely different places has helped my views expand and changes the way how I understand different wants and needs of different people.

Please feel free to contact me through email or by phone if you have any questions or would just like to get into contact. My LinkedIn, which has more information about myself is also accessible on the LinkedIn tab.
